One of the businesses that received a grant from the Quincy CRA Small Business Grant Program is sweet Abayomi, owned by Veronica Ashley. With this grant, Veronica plans to purchase new equipment and invest in marketing for her business, which is located on Quincy Square. The goal of the grant program is to remove blighted conditions in the community and attract more businesses to Quincy.

Veronica expressed her excitement about using the grant for marketing and growing her business. She emphasized the importance of supporting each other and contributing to the overall vitality of the community. City Manager Robert Nixon explained how businesses in Quincy can improve themselves, create job opportunities, and offer goods and services that benefit the community.

While Veronica found the grant application process lengthy, she suggested that providing coaching or support to applicants could be beneficial in the future. The goal is to make more businesses aware of the grant opportunities and encourage them to apply. By supporting local businesses, Quincy hopes to continue growing economically.
