Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have recently signed a Core Contribution Agreement to support the implementation of the extended 13th WHO Programme of Work. This agreement involves a contribution of $4 million from the State of Qatar to WHO, through QFFD, to enhance the Organization’s efforts in addressing global health challenges.

The partnership between QFFD and WHO is a testament to both organizations’ commitment to improving health outcomes and promoting sustainable development goals globally. “Our partnership with WHO demonstrates our dedication to ensuring health equity worldwide,” said Mr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Aseeri, Acting Director-General of QFFD.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed gratitude for the support from the State of Qatar, emphasizing the importance of flexible funds in enabling WHO to respond quickly to global health needs. “This collaboration will prioritize supporting countries in crisis and post-crisis situations,” said Dr. Ghebreyesus.

The extended 13th WHO Programme of Work (GWP13) focuses on a holistic approach to health, addressing both communicable and non-communicable diseases, strengthening health systems, and promoting health throughout life. This collaboration will help countries achieve their health goals and improve their overall wellbeing. The partnership serves as a beacon of hope and a model for international cooperation in global health, as the world continues to face ongoing health challenges.
