Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer announced on Monday that the company is currently in discussions with Airbus and Boeing regarding a significant order for wide-body aircraft. The company is considering a mix of Airbus A350s and Boeing 777X models, with a decision possibly coinciding with the upcoming Farnborough Air Show in Britain. Al Meer confirmed that reports of talks with Airbus for A350 aircraft and Boeing for 777X aircraft are accurate.

According to Bloomberg News, Qatar Airways is nearing a decision on a large order for wide-body aircraft from both manufacturers, potentially totaling around 200 aircraft. While Airbus acknowledged ongoing discussions with customers regarding their needs, Boeing deferred comments to Qatar Airways regarding the matter. Earlier reports indicated that Qatar Airways was considering ordering between 100 and 150 wide-body aircraft from the two manufacturers to expand and modernize its fleet.

In addition to aircraft orders, Al Meer also noted that the airline is engaged in talks with the Australian government to increase its flight operations to Australia. Despite a previous rejection of their request for additional routes to Australia, Al Meer expressed optimism about the ongoing dialogue with Australian authorities. He emphasized the airline’s desire to further expand and strengthen its presence in the Australian market, indicating hope for a positive outcome in the coming months.

Qatar Airways remains committed to enhancing its global operations and partnerships, with a focus on growth and strategic expansion. The airline has been expanding rapidly in recent years, adding new destinations and increasing its fleet size significantly. With these latest developments, it seems that Qatar Airways is set to continue its growth trajectory in the coming years.
