During his visit to Pyongyang, Russian President Vladimir Putin was gifted with two snow-white dogs known for their excellent hunting abilities by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The official North Korean media announced this news today while Putin is currently in Vietnam. According to the South Korean agency Yonhap, the first encounter between Putin and the two dogs occurred right after the signing of a pact for a “global strategic partnership.”
In 2018, Kim had also given a dog of the same breed to former South Korean President Moon Jae-in as a symbol of peace. These diplomatic gestures through the exchange of animals offer a unique glimpse into the softer side of international relations amidst political tensions and negotiations. Both world leaders likely appreciate the significance of these gifts, representing more than just pets but symbols of trust and goodwill.
