On Monday, June 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Anna Tsivileva as Deputy Minister of Defense. Tsivileva is the cousin of Putin and daughter of Yevgeny Mikhailovich Putin, who passed away in March of this year. According to Wikipedia.org, she moved from Ivanovo to Moscow after Putin came to power. In April 2023, she led the state fund to support participants in the “special military operation” (SVO) “Defenders of the Fatherland.”

In addition to Tsivileva, other deputies were also appointed to the Russian Defense Ministry by decrees of the President. Oleg Savelyev and Pavel Fradkov were among those appointed as deputy ministers, while Leonid Gornin was named the first deputy. These appointments bring the total number of deputies in the Russian Defense Ministry to 12.

Tsivileva’s appointment as Deputy Minister of Defense comes at a time when Russia is facing increased tensions with neighboring countries and facing criticism from international community for its involvement in conflicts in Ukraine and Syria. The appointment has raised questions about potential conflicts of interest and nepotism within the Russian government. However, it is important to note that Tsivileva has a strong background in finance and management and has previously held leadership positions within the government.
