The Kings have made their selection in the 2024 NBA Draft, choosing Providence guard Devin Carter with the No. 13 overall pick. Known as one of the best two-way threats in his position, Carter brings a combination of defensive ability and offensive skills to the team.

Carter transferred to Providence before his sophomore year and had a standout junior season, averaging 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Standing at 6-foot-2 and just 22 years old, Carter’s defensive prowess is well-regarded, but he also saw significant improvement on the offensive end last season which helped boost his draft stock making him an attractive prospect for the Kings.

With head coach Mike Brown’s emphasis on defense, Carter’s shooting abilities will be a valuable addition to the team as it complements the playing styles of De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk. The Kings reportedly explored trade options before making their selection but ultimately decided to stick with the No. 13 pick and draft Carter. They also hosted guard prospect Jared McCain for a workout but chose to go with Carter in the end due to his two-way abilities being considered as a crucial addition to their roster.
