Private investigators hired by Mubadala’s lawyers in Vienna have been searching for information on the sale of Benko’s yacht, “RoMa”. The yacht was last registered in Malta under Triton Charters Limited, owned by the Laura Private Foundation, which is attributed to the Benko family. In March 2024, the yacht was sold for 25 million euros after Signa Group went bankrupt.

One of the private investigators discovered that the proceeds from the yacht’s sale were in a trust account on the Channel Islands. Mubadala’s lawyers applied to freeze the proceeds in May, citing the private investigator’s statement, although he did not have independent verification of the account. The Royal Court of Guernsey issued a worldwide freezing order, which was later lifted after additional information.

Mubadala’s lawyers initially sought to freeze the funds but later withdrew the request. Benko’s lawyer stated that neither Benko nor the Laura Private Foundation have assets in Guernsey. The situation surrounding the freezing of assets in Guernsey remains unclear as lawyers have not provided further details.
