In the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark, Mette Frederiksen was brutally assaulted by a man on Friday evening. The Danish Prime Minister was walking through the city center when a man approached her and struck her on the shoulder, causing her to lose her balance. Despite the violent blow, she did not fall.

Following the attack, Frederiksen underwent a check-up at the hospital and was diagnosed with a mild whiplash. This led to the cancellation of some of her appointments for the following day. The suspect, a Polish citizen who has been living in Denmark since 2019, was found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol during an investigation.

The man denied committing any crime but admitted that he recognized Frederiksen and expressed admiration for her. However, he could not remember any details about the incident during an interrogation. A medical examination revealed that the suspect had mental health issues and was remanded in custody until June 20th.

Despite being shaken by the incident, Frederiksen expressed gratitude for public support and assured people of her well-being. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke condemned the attack and emphasized that such violence should not happen in a safe country like Denmark.
