President Joe Biden delivered a speech at the 2024 National Association of Counties Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., highlighting his administration’s investment in American jobs and boasting a strong economy. In his speech, he also criticized his Republican rival, Donald Trump. The conference, which began on Friday and concludes on Tuesday, features other speakers including Don Graves, deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Rep. Marc Molinaro, R-N.Y.

The National Association of Counties is an organization that serves nearly 40,000 county elected officials and 3.6 million county employees with oversight and governance by an executive committee and board of directors. It is owned by America’s county governments. This conference brings together county officials from around the country to focus on federal policy issues affecting counties and residents.

About 2,000 elected and appointed county officials have gathered to engage in policy and educational sessions, interface with federal officials, and participate in congressional meetings according to the conference organizers. This conference presents an opportunity for county officials to address federal policy issues that directly impact their communities.
