President Biden and Trump each have their own unique ways of preparing for the upcoming debate on June 27. The two former presidents will go head-to-head in their first direct debate of this year’s election season at CNN’s studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Unlike previous debates, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did not meet CNN’s standards for participation as he did not have enough support in the polls before June 20.

The debate is set to last 90 minutes with two commercial breaks. Campaign members from both parties will be prohibited from communicating with the candidates during this time. Both Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump are prohibited from bringing props or notes to the podium but will be provided with a pen, a pad of paper, and a bottle of water.

President Biden plans to spend several days at Camp David in Maryland, strategizing and practicing for the debate. On the other hand, Mr. Trump is focusing on strengthening his policy positions and avoiding excessive rhetoric in his preparations. Mr. Biden’s team is organizing strategy sessions at Camp David, discussing topics, questions, and potential responses while simulating the 90-minute debate to ensure the President is well-prepared. In contrast, Mr. Trump is seeking support from various allies, experts, and potential vice presidential candidates while refining his messaging on key issues and preparing to challenge Mr. Biden on topics like immigration and the economy.

Both candidates see this debate as a crucial moment in the race for the White House as it gives them an opportunity to address undecided voters and reassure concerns about their age
