The Premier League clubs have unanimously decided to introduce semi-automated offside technology at the start of the next season. This AI-based system will utilize optical player tracking technology to provide quicker and more consistent placement of the virtual offside line, enhancing the in-stadium and broadcast experience for supporters through high-quality graphics.

The new system was first used at a World Cup during the 2022 tournament in Qatar and has also been implemented in the Champions League. The Premier League aims to launch this innovative technology during the first half of the upcoming season.

This decision marks a significant step towards incorporating technological advancements into the sport of soccer. The introduction of AI-based offside technology is expected to improve accuracy and efficiency in officiating during matches, providing a better experience for both players and fans alike.
