Astana, Kazakhstan is set to host the 2024 IBSA Powerlifting and Benchpress World Championships from October 7th to 14th. Over 80 athletes from 12 countries are expected to participate in the competition, vying for world titles across various categories.

The event will feature a range of events for both men and women in open, sub-junior, junior, and master categories. These events include total, bench press – single life, squat, bench press – powerlifting, and deadlift. Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in the total, open (men and women), as well as individual male and female athletes in total and bench press – single lift, open by good lift points.

Nezam Dodel, Chair of the IBSA Powerlifting Committee expressed his gratitude to Mr. Artur Tomitsskiy, President of the Kazakhstan Parapowerlifting Federation and Mr. Medet Baiken, President of the Kazakhstan Blind Sports Federation for their willingness to host the championships. The committee is dedicated to developing the sport and encourages more member countries to recruit athletes and send them to the World Championships as it is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in this field.

Invitations and entry forms have been sent out to countries with the latest versions available online. The event promises to be a thrilling showcase of blind sportsmanship at its finest.
