On June 29, during the Germany – Denmark match in the 1/8 round of Euro 2024, a 21-year-old man climbed onto the roof of Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund with his face covered. He was discovered by security forces and was immediately monitored by police drones and helicopters with spotlights shining on the stadium roof to ensure there was no danger to anyone in the stadium. The young man from Osnabrueck, northeastern Germany, confessed to police that he climbed onto the stadium roof because he wanted to take nice pictures during the match.

German authorities are currently working to investigate how the young man managed to enter the stadium and reach the roof area without being stopped. There were initial reports that suggested he was carrying a gun, but these claims have been denied by police. The young man has been charged with illegal entry and has been released on bail pending further investigation.

As the investigation continues, authorities will work to ensure the security of future matches held during Euro 2024. The game was delayed for 25 minutes in the first half due to a heavy thunderstorm. Despite this incident, Germany won the match 2-0 against Denmark. The young man’s actions have raised concerns about security measures at Euro 2024 and how they can be strengthened to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
