MultiVersus, a game developed by Player First Games and featuring characters from Warner Bros. franchises like Batman and Bugs Bunny, officially launched on May 28 after a successful two-month testing period. The free-to-play fighting game aims to establish itself in the competitive gaming market. El Comercio had the opportunity to test the game in advance and speak with Ian Rapoport, designer at Player First Games, who expressed his excitement about the project’s official release.

The testing period resulted in significant improvements to the game, including updates to reduce lag in online games, new characters, additional progression systems, and a PVE game mode called “Rifts.” MultiVersus offers players a mix of superheroes, cartoon characters, and other famous franchises. Players can acquire new characters using premium currency or through in-game progression.

MultiVersus features online multiplayer modes like 1v1 and 2v2 battles with a focus on reducing lag through rollback netcode. The game’s combat system is similar to Super Smash Bros., but with unique features like directional commands for attack buttons. The goal is not just to reduce the opponent’s health but to throw them off the screen. Players can also engage with new challenges against the computer in “Rifts” mode to earn rewards.

Fans of fighting games are encouraged to give MultiVersus a try on various platforms including PC and consoles. While it may be compared to Super Smash Bros., MultiVersus distinguishes itself with unique mechanics and character selection while providing a compelling fighting experience that balances simplicity and depth.
