A Play It Again Sports resale store in Fayetteville is currently up for sale, with hopes that a new owner will continue to provide customers with new and used sporting equipment. The store, part of the Play It Again Sports franchise, has been in operation for over 25 years at 245 Westwood Shopping Center. With 290 locations across the country, the brand was founded in 1983 in Minneapolis.

The Fayetteville store, which has a gross annual sales value of $707,623 and employs 10 people, is now listed for $150,000. Current owner Jeff Mozingo, who purchased the store in May 2020 from the original owners, Dean and Anne Mathias, is looking to sell but hopes to see the store’s legacy continue in the community. The Mathiases opened the location in October 1997.

Although the store went on the market in November 23, it is not closing. Mozingo stated that his decision to sell was a business one, with the belief that new ownership could bring growth and improved customer service. The Play It Again Sports model focuses on buying, selling, and trading high-quality used and new sports gear and fitness equipment.

The store is currently working with the franchisor, Winmark, to find a qualified buyer for a smooth ownership transfer. Mozingo emphasized the importance of keeping the store operating as usual to facilitate an easier transition for the new owner.
