The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department’s mission is to protect and improve the health of all people and places in Pierce County. Through policy, programs, and treatment, the department works to address known and emerging health risks to protect public health. It is one of approximately 394 accredited health departments in the country and one of five in the state that has met or exceeded the quality standards set by the Public Health Accreditation Board.

As part of their efforts to maintain high standards, the department will be closing its building located at 3629 S. D St., Tacoma, WA 98418 on Thursday, June 27 for a staff retreat. However, many of their services can still be accessed online during this time. The building will reopen on Friday, June 28 for regular business hours.
