The pharmaceutical industry responded to the pandemic preparedness agreements made at the World Health Assembly on 1 June. Member states agreed on amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005) and decided to finalize negotiations on a pandemic agreement within a year. On 28 May 2024, IFPMA presented a statement at the World Health Assembly regarding the Working Group on Amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005). IFPMA acknowledged and appreciated the efforts made by Member States in advancing the text of the Working Group on Amendments to the International Health Regulations (WGIHR). Additionally, on 28 May 2024, IFPMA, GSCF, GMTA, DVCMN, and BIO submitted a constituency statement at the World Health Assembly on the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body to draft and negotiate a WHO convention, agreement, or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response. These organizations expressed their views on this agenda item at the Assembly.
