The Crater Health District has announced that the Petersburg Health Department building will reopen on Tuesday after being closed for three weeks due to a potentially hazardous odor. The closure forced most clinics to move to other locations, but they will now resume in Petersburg.

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) programming will be held at the Virginia Community Resource Center on West Washington Street next week. Clinics scheduled for June 3 will continue to be held at the Hopewell Health Department.

The Halifax Street location was closed on May 13 when the strong odor was discovered, believed to be caused by recent roof repairs. The building was closed to ensure the safety of staff and patients, and operations were moved to other departments within the Crater Health District.

If you have questions about appointment times and services, you can call (804) 863-1652 or visit the Crater Health District website for more information.
