Drew Allar is entering his second season as the starting quarterback for Penn State in 2024 and has demonstrated that he possesses all the necessary skills to succeed in the Nittany Lions’ offense. Despite facing challenges in the 2023 season, Allar struggled to establish consistency with his receivers. With the arrival of new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, there is hope that Allar’s effectiveness will improve and propel him to become one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten this season.

Allar’s rankings among Big Ten quarterbacks have been positively impacted by the departure of several key players from other schools in the conference. Notable names like Bo Nix (Oregon), Michael Penix (Washington), Caleb Williams (USC), and J.J. McCarthy (Michigan) have all left their respective programs. According to recent rankings by Pro Football Focus, Allar is currently the second-highest rated quarterback in the Big Ten for the upcoming season, trailing only Dillon Gabriel from Oregon.

With a rating of 86.3 from Pro Football Focus, Allar sits just 5.6 points behind Gabriel in the rankings. Tyler Van Dyke from Wisconsin is the third-best quarterback according to PFF, with a score of 85.9. Max Brosmer from Minnesota is the only other quarterback rated above 80, standing at 80.0. Both Pro Football Focus and 247Sports have positioned Allar as the second-best quarterback in the Big Ten, behind Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel
