Penn State received some positive news on the recruiting front this weekend with the commitment of a highly-touted safety from South Jersey. Braswell Thomas, a three-star safety from Cape May, New Jersey, announced his decision to join the Nittany Lions on Sunday.

Thomas, who stands at 6’2″ and weighs 185 pounds, had been a target for Penn State since receiving an offer from them in March 2023. He had visited Penn State multiple times before making his commitment, including five unofficial visits and football camps. Thomas had also been courted by West Virginia and Nebraska but ultimately chose Penn State.

The addition of Thomas to the Class of 2025 adds depth to Penn State’s defensive secondary, which already includes commitments from cornerbacks Daryus Dixson, Jahmir Joseph, and Xxavier Thomas as well as safety Antonio Branch Jr. With several talented players set to join the program, Penn State’s recruiting efforts continue to gain momentum.
