With the 2024-25 season on the horizon, Paul George has opted to decline his player option with the Clippers, leaving him as a free agent. As NBA free agency gets underway on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, George is expected to meet with several teams that have cap space, including the Clippers themselves.

Among the teams that are reportedly interested in signing George are the Sixers, who are planning to aggressively pursue him during free agency. With no clear path to acquiring George, the Warriors are reportedly out of contention for his services. This news puts the Sixers and president of basketball operations Daryl Morey in a prime position to land the star wing player.

George averaged an impressive 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals last season with the Clippers. If he were to join the Sixers alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, he would be a valuable addition to their roster. The Sixers could offer George a maximum contract of four years and $212 million, demonstrating their commitment to bringing him on board. However, it remains uncertain whether George will ultimately choose to sign with the Sixers or explore other options during free agency.
