Patrick Cantlay’s participation in the Royal Troon is now uncertain as he withdrew from the John Deere Classic due to an injury sustained during training. While he did not provide specific details about the injury, it was a blow to his plans of making his debut at the John Deere Classic this week.

Despite missing out on the tournament, Cantlay has had a successful season with four top-10 finishes, including a T3 at the U.S. Open and a T5 at the Travelers Championship. He has only missed one cut in 15 starts this season and was ranked No. 8 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

With Cantlay likely out until the British Open at Royal Troon on July 18, his absence from the field at the upcoming Genesis Scottish Open next week leaves him with three full weeks off. While this may not be an ideal preparation for a major championship, it should allow him to fully recover from his injury.
