A man accused of a Pasadena murder is now fighting for his personal life when behind bars in the Harris County Jail due to the fact of liver cirrhosis, his lawyer told KPRC two.
Eric Cano, 40, is indicted for murder and awaiting trial, accused of fatally shooting Rojelio Ramirez twice in the face in October 2020 soon after the males had been drinking and got in a fight, according to court documents.
But Cano spent the final month and a half in the hospital with a failing liver. He was discharged back to the jail earlier this week soon after medical doctors decided no further remedies could assistance him and gave him two weeks to reside, his lawyer Wade Smith stated.
“This man is absolutely and utterly bedridden,” Smith stated, adding that Cano has other organs failing and internal bleeding. “This man is certainly no security threat to any neighborhood. He cannot even get out of bed on his personal.”
Cano’s situation is so negative that he couldn’t make it to the courtroom on Wednesday when his attorneys argued he ought to be released to die at house in hospice care.
Following he was arrested in Oct. 2020, Cano posted his original $250,000 bond and spent almost two years free of charge when awaiting trial.

At Wednesday’s hearing in Cano’s, Smith asked Franklin to reinstate his initial bond, which has currently been posted, or to set a new bond that his family members could afford, each selections with the objective of receiving him released.
