Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup includes two players who came out of retirement, fast bowler Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim. Both players have extensive experience playing in the Caribbean Premier League, which the selectors took into consideration when choosing the squad. Despite not having played competitive cricket since late February due to a shoulder injury, fast bowler Haris Rauf was also selected for the squad.

Pakistan’s squad opens its campaign against the United States and will also face India, Canada, and Ireland in the group stage. The top two teams from the group will advance to the next round. Several new players will be making their T20 World Cup debut for Pakistan, including leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan, fast bowler Abbas Afridi, opening batter Saim Ayub, and middle-order batter Usman Khan. Usman Khan had a below-par performance in the recent T20 series against New Zealand but was previously banned by the Emirates Cricket Board.
