After the Packers announced the waiving of kicker Jack Podlesny on Wednesday, their kicking competition has been narrowed down to two players. Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph are now the frontrunners for the starting kicker position on the team.

Anders Carlson is the incumbent in this competition, having been drafted by the Packers in the sixth round in 2023. However, he struggled as a rookie, missing six field goals and five extra points. Greg Joseph, on the other hand, missed six field goals and two extra points for the Vikings last season, his fifth year in the NFL.

The former walk-on at Georgia, Podlesny had a successful college career at Georgia where he made 82.4 percent of his field goals. Despite being a first-year player in the NFL, he has yet to kick in a regular-season game.
