Several outstanding athletes from the Louisville area have been nominated for the Courier Journal boys athlete of the week. The poll is currently open for voting until 6 p.m. Thursday, with the winner set to be announced on Friday.

Colin Knoop from Fern Creek had an impressive performance in baseball by pitching a one-hitter against South Oldham and striking out 13 batters in seven innings. The Tigers secured a 2-1 record by defeating South Oldham and Central. Meanwhile, Trinity’s Huck Campbell shined in lacrosse by scoring six goals in the KSLL semifinal and championship game, leading his team to their seventh state title. His performance earned him the MVP title in the championship game.

Senior Landon Olgine from Ballard had an impressive game with three hits, four RBIs, and a stolen base against Atherton. Ballard also secured a victory against DeSales. Michael Raider from Kentucky Country Day contributed to his team’s success by earning three hits, six RBIs, and two stolen bases in their 2-1 record. Carter Vinson of Trinity excelled in track and field by running the third-fastest 200 meters in Kentucky with a personal best of 21.75 seconds at the Metro Meet of Champions.
