The “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” kicked off without Willie Nelson performing in the first few shows. Instead of Nelson, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band performed in his absence as the tour continued. Other scheduled acts like Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and Celisse went on stage as planned.

Despite his absence from subsequent tour stops in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Raleigh, North Carolina, details about Nelson’s potential participation in the next show at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach remain uncertain. Future Outlaw tour locations include Syracuse and Wantagh, New York, as well as Holmdel, New Jersey.

Willie Nelson is a music icon with a lengthy career that earned him a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. He established an educational endowment and released a book about his songwriting throughout his seven-decade career. Hits like “Crazy,” “Funny How Times Slip Away,” and “On the Road Again” have cemented his place as one of country music’s greatest legends. In addition to his musical influence, Nelson co-founded Farm Aid and remains active in various causes.
