The Orlando Health Air Care Team, based in Orlando, Florida, is a helicopter ambulance service that provides critical care to patients in need. They respond to scenes and transport calls across the Orlando area and are also available at all Orlando Health hospitals, including Central Florida’s only level 1 trauma center. The team has been serving the community for over 35 years, starting in 1984 and completing their first patient flight in November of the same year. Over the years, they have seen upgrades in their helicopters, from the BK-117 to the EC-135 in 2015. Currently, the helicopter carries a single pilot along with a nurse and paramedic to ensure timely and expert care during transport.

According to Orlando Health, their Air Care Team has flown over 40,000 patients in the last four decades, demonstrating their commitment to serving the community and providing life-saving medical assistance. This week marks National EMS Week, which honors hardworking EMTs and paramedics who dedicate their lives to saving others every day.
