Evan Stewart, ranked as the No. 5 overall transfer in the final rankings by 247Sports, is an exciting addition to the Oregon Ducks’ team this offseason. Pro Football Focus recently compared him to Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2020 during his time at Alabama. Like Smith, Stewart is known for his elite route-running skills and speed.

Dalton Wasserman of PFF noted that Stewart’s route-running abilities are comparable to Smith’s, despite Stewart having only two seasons of college experience due to injury issues at Texas A&M. If Stewart can bring the same effectiveness to Oregon’s offense as Smith did at Alabama, he will be a great fit for offensive coordinator Will Stein’s scheme.

Stewart will slot in at the X-receiver position for the Ducks, alongside Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden. Johnson is known for his speed, while Holden is a big, athletic pass catcher. This trio of receivers will provide Stewart with opportunities to make big plays downfield as well as serve as a reliable option for quarterback Dillon Gabriel. With Stewart’s skills and the talent of his teammates, the Ducks’ receiving corps looks set to make a big impact in the upcoming season
