The OLCHS iTeam, a group of students in the Technology Support Internship class at Oak Lawn Community High School, are using their tech skills to assist members of the community. These students have expanded their roles to be learning resources outside of the high school walls. They visited Simmons Middle School to create fun and interactive lessons for sixth and seventh graders, using Sphero robots to teach basic coding skills and challenge the students to maneuver the robots through obstacle courses.

The iTeam also provided basic technology assistance to residents of Palos Heights Senior Living, a Spectrum retirement community, helping seniors with tasks such as saving photos, deleting apps, and using features on their cell phones.

Members of the iTeam are trained in interpersonal communication, customer service, leadership, and advanced skills using Apple devices and creativity apps. They receive in-person training and guidance on new technologies at the Apple store and can earn specialized certifications in Unity Game Discipline. The opportunities provided to these students allow them to apply their technical skills in real-world settings, develop valuable soft skills, and give back to the community.
