In 2023, Oklahoma Sooners star linebacker Danny Stutsman was a key player for the team, leading them with 104 tackles, 16 of which were for a loss. He also recorded three sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery, along with a pick-six against Tulsa. Despite missing some games due to injury, Oklahoma had a 10-1 record when Stutsman started and finished.

Stutsman’s leadership both on and off the field has earned him numerous accolades leading up to the 2024 season. In addition to being named a preseason Walter Camp first-team All-American, he has also been recognized as a preseason All-Big 12 linebacker by multiple outlets.

Beyond his statistics and accolades, Stutsman is known for his decision to return to college for another season. His familiarity with the defensive system and his role as a leader make him a critical player for new defensive coordinator Zac Alley. As one of the top linebackers in college football, Stutsman is a valuable asset to the Sooners.

Stutsman’s success on the field can be attributed in part to the influence of coach Brent Venables. It is likely that Stutsman will continue to receive recognition on preseason All-America teams in the coming months, further solidifying his status as a standout player in college football.
