In the latest U.S. News and World Report Best Graduate Programs Rankings for 2023-2024, several Ohio universities have been recognized for their strong engineering graduate programs. Among them are Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Dayton, the University of Akron, and the University of Cincinnati.
Ohio State University stands out as the highest-ranked engineering program in the state, with high scores in peer and recruiter assessments, a large number of doctoral degrees granted, and a significant percentage of tenure-track faculty who are elected members of the National Academy of Engineering.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is ranked as the top engineering school in the country, followed closely by Stanford University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The rankings were based on research activity, faculty resources, academic achievements of students, and assessments by other engineering schools and employers.
Despite dropping in rankings from the previous year, two Ohio schools – Case Western Reserve University and the University of Cincinnati – improved significantly in their rankings this year. The University of Cincinnati also had an impressive showing with a high percentage of publications cited in top journals by Elsevier’s CiteScore. Meanwhile, the University of Dayton led all Ohio schools in externally funded engineering research expenditures at $220.9 million.
These rankings highlight Ohio’s excellence in engineering graduate programs and showcase each institution’s strengths in research, faculty resources, and academic achievements. Each university has made significant contributions to the field of engineering that have helped establish them as leaders among their peers.
