The Shed BBQ and Blues Joint team from Ocean Springs, Mississippi emerged as the grand champions of the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis, Tennessee. Their delectable whole hog preparation showcased their culinary skills and helped them secure the top prize. The team also won the whole hog division, where the entire pig is cooked at once, demonstrating their expertise in barbecue cooking.

The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is highly regarded in the culinary world, having gained prominence since its establishment in the 1970s. With the rise of barbecue smoking technology and the abundance of recipes available online, the competition has become increasingly fierce over the years. This year, 129 teams from 22 states and four countries vied for a total of $150,000 in prize money across categories like ribs, shoulder, and whole hog.

Pork is the star of Memphis barbecue tradition, but there were additional contests for wings, poultry, beef, and seafood at the event. Brad Orrison and Brooke Lewis, siblings from Ocean Springs and members of The Shed BBQ and Blues Joint team, claimed their victory after 17 years of competing. Named after their restaurant, the team has now won the grand championship three times, solidifying their reputation in the barbecue world.
