In the aftermath of a mass shooting that injured nine individuals on Saturday, June 15, 2024, a sign on Auburn Road in Rochester Hills directs people to seek support at the family counseling center. Families impacted by the tragic event at a Rochester Hills splash pad can now access mental health services closer to home starting Monday.

Oakland County and the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) have established the Family Assistance Center to provide counseling services to victims, their families, and others affected by the violence. The center will be relocated to the Rochester Community Schools Administration Building at 52585 Dequindre Road in Rochester. Counselors will be available from 2 to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays to offer assistance to those in need. As of Friday afternoon, 37 individuals have already sought services at the center, according to county officials.

In addition, OCHN will have a mental health resource table at the Festival of the Hills on Wednesday, June 26, at Borden Park located at 1400 E. Hamlin Road. The table will offer community resources but on-site counseling will not be provided that day. For those unable to visit the Family Assistance Center, Oakland County’s Nurse on Call can be reached at (800) 848-5533 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., from Monday to Friday for information about available mental health resources.
