In 2023, Novant Health in southeastern North Carolina announced that it would be transferring some Digital Products and Services (DPS) team services to an external partner. As part of this transition, additional DPS functions are being shifted to Deloitte Digital, resulting in a reduction in the use of other external partners by over 90%.

The changes aim to allow Novant Health to scale its resources and continue investing in creating a healthier future for the communities it serves. While less than 300 team members are impacted by these changes, a WARN Notice from the NC Department of Commerce confirmed that 81 people were laid off in Forsyth County, with over 170 employees expected to be laid off overall.

Affected DPS team members will see adjustments in their roles and responsibilities, with some roles being phased out. However, Novant Health notes that less than 0.8% of its nearly 40,000 positions across the health system are impacted by these changes. Some team members may have the opportunity to join external partners or transition to roles within Novant Health, while resources are being extended to help ease the transition for other team members. The health system expresses gratitude for the service provided by these individuals to Novant Health and its patients.
