Notre Dame Football is Back!

As the month of June arrives, college football fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the season. Notre Dame players are expected to be featured on a number of award watch lists, as the Irish are considered contenders for the College Football Playoff. The first such instance has arrived, with Benjamin Morrison and Howard Cross III making the watch list for the Lott Trophy, awarded annually to the best defensive IMPACT player in college football.

The Lott Trophy is unique among college football awards as it considers both character and performance on the field. Manti Te’o is the only previous Notre Dame player to win this prestigious award, earning it in 2012. This year’s initial watch list includes 42 names, showcasing the competition that Morrison and Cross will face. The winner of this trophy will be announced during a ceremony on December 8 in Newport Beach, California. Fans will be watching to see if either player can stand out among the competition and bring home this coveted award for Notre Dame.
