Investigator Barry W. Randall of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has successfully graduated from the One Hundred and Eleventh Session of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy on March 29, 2024. The Academy provides advanced training to qualified crime scene search officers, teaching them how to recognize, document, collect, and preserve physical evidence found at crime scenes for laboratory examination.

The nine-week course equips participants with knowledge about the capabilities and limitations of modern forensic laboratories in examining a range of materials that can be collected as evidence in criminal cases. They gain practical application techniques that, when combined with their previous experience, allows for the optimal use of forensic sciences in their departments and the Criminal Justice System of the Commonwealth.

Investigator Randall’s graduation is a significant achievement that will enhance the capabilities of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office in serving the community. The knowledge and skills acquired during the course will enable Investigator Randall to contribute effectively to investigations and ensure justice is served in criminal cases.
