North Carolina clinched their first win in the 2024 Men’s College World Series with a dramatic 3-2 walk-off victory against Virginia. The game ended in the bottom of the ninth with pinch hitter Jackson Van De Brake starting things off with a double and eventually scoring the winning run.

Vance Honeycutt, a top-30 MLB draft prospect, delivered a crucial line drive to left field on a 2-1 count to bring home Van De Brake. This was not the first time the Diamond Heels showed resilience in late-game situations, as Honeycutt had previously walked off West Virginia in Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional.

With this thrilling victory under their belts, North Carolina will now face the winner of the Tennessee-Florida State matchup, scheduled to begin tonight at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Diamond Heels will look to build on their momentum as they continue their quest for the College World Series title.
