The thrilling game between North Carolina Tar Heels and Virginia Cavaliers kicked off the 2024 College World Series. Junior center fielder Vance Honeycutt played the role of hero, hitting a single in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring home the winning run for North Carolina.
Honeycutt’s clutch performance comes on the heels of a walk-off home run in the Super Regionals last weekend, further solidifying his status as a key player for the Tar Heels. The game started off strongly for North Carolina, with a run in the first inning courtesy of right fielder Anthony Donofrio. However, Virginia quickly responded, tying the game in the third inning with an RBI from first baseman Henry Ford.
