The Finnish sustainability fund UB Forest Industry Green Growth Fund (UB FIGG) and specialty chemicals group Altana have invested in technology company Nordtreat. Nordtreat is known for its development and production of innovative, high-performance, and environmentally friendly fire retardants. They specialize in using bio-based raw materials in their products.

In addition to the investments from UB FIGG and Altana, the company has also entered into an agreement with Altana’s BYK division to develop bio-based flame retardant additives. Dr. Jörg Hinnerwisch, the head of the BYK division, mentions that there is a growing demand for bio-based solutions for flame retardant additives.

The collaboration between Nordtreat and Altana’s BYK division indicates a shift towards more sustainable solutions in the industry. By using bio-based raw materials and focusing on environmentally friendly practices, Nordtreat is contributing to the development of safer and more sustainable fire retardants. The support from UB FIGG and Altana will further propel Nordtreat’s growth and innovation in the field of fire retardant technology.
