In February of this year, former business director of the Footprints of Montgomery Food Pantry, Shawn M. Gawblick, was arrested on felony charges for allegedly stealing $40,442 from the nonprofit organization, according to state police. Gawblick, 50, faces charges of theft, receiving stolen property, and theft by failure to make required disposition.

Gawblick was hired as the business director of the pantry in August 2021 but left the organization in February of this year. The pantry’s treasurer reported irregularities with the organization’s business bank account, specifically related to Gawblick’s use of the bank card, prompting an investigation by state police. When confronted, Gawblick admitted to stealing the money and claimed it was for medical and living expenses, acknowledging that her actions were wrong.

At her recent arraignment, it was revealed that Gawblick has a criminal history that includes charges of forgery and theft by deception. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is currently free on $25,000 bail. The investigation into the theft from the Footprints of Montgomery Food Pantry is ongoing.

The nonprofit organization has expressed its disappointment and shock at Gawblick’s actions and stated that they will continue to work closely with state police to ensure justice is served. The pantry also reassured its donors and supporters that their funds will be handled with care and transparency moving forward.
