Nokia has recently announced that Azerbaijan’s state-owned operator, Baktelecom, will be deploying its XGS-PON solution to provide new gigabit services to both residential and business customers throughout Azerbaijan. The deployment began in March 2024, with the initial focus being on the capital city of Baku.

Baktelecom will utilize Nokia’s mesh Wi-Fi Beacons to ensure optimal WiFi coverage and performance in customer’s homes. This partnership allows Baktelecom to improve the well-being of the population by providing high-speed connectivity to all individuals in Azerbaijan.

Tural Pirverdiyev, the acting CEO of Baktelecom, expressed excitement about this collaboration, stating, “With Nokia’s XGS-PON, not only do we become a leading provider of these next-generation services in Azerbaijan, but we are also able to offer ultra-fast fibre connectivity to wholesale broadband providers and, in turn, to residential and business customers.” This initiative demonstrates Baktelecom’s commitment to meeting the growing data demands of its customers.
