Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has announced that James Bradberry will be moving to the safety position, despite his previous experience as a cornerback. The team had not included Bradberry in their plans as a cornerback with their first two draft picks, but they have not completely given up on him playing a role on the team.

Bradberry, 30, was named an All-Pro at corner in 2022 and signed a three-year, $38 million deal with the Eagles in March 2023. Although the team has solid starters at safety in Reed Blankenship and CJ Gardner-Johnson, they are in need of depth at the position.

Sydney Brown, the team’s third-round pick in 2023, is currently rehabbing from a torn ACL. In addition to Bradberry, other players who could provide depth at safety include Mekhi Garner, Tristin McCollum, Andre Sam, and veteran nickel corner Avonte Maddox, who has been cross-training at safety. Despite suffering an injury during a mandatory minicamp practice, the severity of Bradberry’s injury is currently unknown. Overall, the Eagles are optimistic about Bradberry’s potential at safety and his willingness to contribute to the team in any way he can.
