Marvin Harrison Jr. has taken a unique approach to the pre-draft process by choosing to skip workouts at the scouting combine and Ohio State Pro Day in order to focus on preparing for the NFL season. Even after being drafted as the No. 4 overall pick, he continues to pave his own path off the field.
Despite being drafted, Harrison has not signed a preliminary licensing agreement with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), which is standard practice for anticipated draftees. This agreement would allow his name and likeness to be monetized, but he has yet to sign. There is speculation that Harrison may never sign an official NFLPA licensing deal, allowing him to retain his full rights without joining the herd.
While he does not have an NFLPA deal, Harrison has a memorabilia agreement with Fanatics. However, Fanatics recently filed a lawsuit against him, claiming breach of contract and citing an agreement worth more than $1 million dating back to last May. Harrison denies the existence of this agreement.
As a result of not having an NFLPA deal, there are still no Marvin Harrison Jr. jerseys available for purchase, as the NFLPA licenses players’ names for official apparel. Additionally, he is unable to be featured in any NFL-licensed video games, such as the next edition of the “Madden” franchise
