The agitated student leaders reportedly climbed atop the adjacent wall of the gate and with the support of lengthy bamboo sticks, demolished the 9-feet higher wall which was constructed on Friday evening, informed varsity officials.

A couple of months back, the varsity administration had locked this entrance gate, generating access to the science faculty only from the gate situated in front of Chandrashekar Azad park. Having said that, the lock was broken several instances by some unidentified miscreants.

AU administration was of the opinion that considering the fact that the science faculty had two gates, the complete campus had come to be porous and vulnerable to miscreants who normally indulged in eve-teasing and other objectionable acts. These unscrupulous components utilized to normally enter from either of the gates of the science faculty and escape from the other 1 devoid of any hindrance.

AU’s public relation officer (PRO), prof Jaya Kapoor mentioned, “The university authorities have created many efforts to close the Katra side gate of the science faculty campus considering the fact that the campus safety was compromised as individuals have been generating it a thoroughfare. Closing the entry by erecting the wall was a step to safe the campus but sadly, the wall has been demolished. We are assessing the scenario and will take acceptable action in due course of time.”
