Ludvig Åberg has taken control after two rounds at the U.S. Open, despite this being his first time playing in the tournament. Coming into the weekend, he was not even a seasoned player in majors. However, he is now at the top of the leaderboard, navigating a challenging course that proved difficult for seasoned players like Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, and Tiger Woods.

Åberg shared his thoughts about the U.S. Open saying, “A U.S. Open is supposed to be hard. It’s supposed to be tricky, and it’s supposed to challenge any aspect of your game. And I feel like it’s really doing that.” He expressed gratitude for how well he has been doing over the past couple of days and hopes to continue his strong performance.

Despite Åberg’s lead, other players remain in contention. The Thursday night leaders, Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy, struggled but are still within striking distance. Bryson DeChambeau also had an uneven round but finished strong. Players like Matthieu Pavon, Thomas Detry, and Tony Finau are also close behind. The forecast for the weekend predicts challenging weather conditions that may change the course dynamics, making the competition even tougher.

One of the standout moments from Friday was Francesco Molinari’s hole-in-one on his final hole of the day
