New Zealander Sam Jones made an impressive start at the DP World Tour’s Soudal Open in Belgium. He hit an albatross on Thursday, taking a two-stroke lead over the other players. His second shot from 273 yards at the par-five 17th led him to card a nine-under 62 at Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp. The leaderboard is currently topped by Jones, who sits at nine-under.

Following closely behind Jones are English duo Andrew Wilson and Matthew Jordan, as well as Nacho Elvira, Romain Langasque, and Niklas Norgaard. Despite arriving in Belgium after four missed cuts in his last five events, Jones managed to deliver an outstanding performance at the Soudal Open. He had a strong performance with three birdies and one bogey on the front nine, followed by four additional birdies before his remarkable albatross.
