In the Hampton Roads region, a bottled red sauce produced by a Virginia Tech graduate is set to hit shelves at Food Lion stores next month. Tahjere Lewis turned his family recipe into a commercially available product called Aunt Carol’s Sauce, and his entrepreneurial spirit has continued since. The largest retailer to agree to carry the item so far, Food Lion spokeswoman Maddie Peters said. Lewis is just 24 years old and resides in the area.

In other news, two wineries in the region have announced the opening of their seasonal tasting rooms. AmRhein’s Wine Cellars in Bent Mountain will open its tasting room on April 6th, while Villa Appalaccia Winery just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Patrick County surpassed expectations at its opening on March 15th, co-owner Julie Block said. “We set records. People are just itching to get back out.”

Unfortunately, Stanburn Winery in Stuart has announced that it will close after this upcoming season.
