Nancy M. Amato, the Computer Science Department Head and Abel Bliss Professor of Engineering, is excited about the opportunities that Thomas M. Siebel’s support has brought to the computing and data science community on campus. Students and faculty have been involved in groundbreaking developments such as the first modern web browser, PayPal, YouTube, and Yelp, and they are committed to continuing to innovate in the field of computing and data science while providing access to computing education for deserving students.

The new Siebel School of Computing & Data Science will build on the university’s history of computing innovation by focusing on advancing frontiers at the intersections of computing and data science. Pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees, the school will further enhance the university’s reputation as a leader in computing research and education.
