Mike Grier, the general manager of the San Jose Sharks, has announced that Ryan Warsofsky will be the team’s new head coach. Warsofsky had previously served as an assistant coach under David Quinn, who was recently fired.

Grier praised Warsofsky’s track record of success as both a head and assistant coach at various levels of hockey. He expressed confidence in Warsofsky’s ability to work with the existing group of players and to serve as a mentor for the young players joining the organization.

Taking over a struggling team, Warsofsky steps into the role as the Sharks look to turn their fortunes around. Under Quinn, the Sharks had a poor record and finished with the worst mark in the NHL over the past two seasons. However, the team has made moves to rebuild, including winning the draft lottery and likely selecting Macklin Celebrini in the upcoming draft.

In accepting the position, Warsofsky expressed his gratitude and excitement to lead the Sharks. He acknowledged the organization’s winning history and vowed to work towards creating a team that fans can be proud of. With experience coaching defense and penalty kill units, Warsofsky has contributed to the development of younger players on the team.
